Why vintage fabrics?

I love vintage fabrics because of the impressive quality and nostalgic prints. Sourcing for them has become a meaningful part of my life.

I studied sewing & fashion design between 2014–2020. During this time I came to realize that the more I learn about the industry, the more I hate it.

I wanted to start creating fashion in a more slow, sustainable way, and using existing fabrics over new ones has been one way of doing it.

My sewing journey

It's me, Inga, who sews all the Ingacecilia pieces.

I have been actively sewing from second hand materials for over 10 years now. What started as a hobby, eventually turned into my passion & career.

My goal is to make beautiful use of forgotten fabrics.

I have a degree as a designer in fashion & costume design, as well as a dressmaker. But I got my very first sewing skills from my beautiful mother.

What got me into upcycled fashion in the first place was the uniqueness of it, but also the rewarding feeling of bringing discarded fabrics back to life. With my products I wish to share the beauty & fun of upcycling. ♥

Frequently asked

How many products is there available per fabric?

Each fabric is usually enough for 1–3 tops or 4–8 bags. It's very rare to find vintage fabric pieces that lasts for more than that.

Why can I not find more bags or tops at the webshop?

It means that they're currently sold out. They're released in drops & upcoming dates are always announced beforehand on Instagram.

Can I have something custom-made from my own fabrics?

If you have vintage fabrics that aligns with the Ingacecilia vibe, then making a "Cupcake" top from that could work. Ingacecilia only makes its own designs and does not work as a personal seamstress.

Do you take fabric donations?

Absolutely! I'm also happy to give a fair payment for bigger fabric donations. Just keep in mind that the fabrics needs to be:

- Vintage (70s–90s)

- In good condition for sewing & smell-free

- Anything else but Moomin & Marimekko (for licensing reasons)
